From the Counselor’s Desk at Vista Elementary School
Dear Students and Families,
My name is Melissa Whitmore and I am the counselor here at Vista. This is my second year as Vista’s counselor and I would love to get to know you!
I am here to help all our Vista students be successful socially, emotionally, and behaviorally so they can access their education without barriers. I strive to be available and accessible to students as well as being a resource for parents, teachers, staff, and the community. I meet with students individually and in small groups, conduct occasional classroom lessons, meet with parents, collaborate with teachers and staff and consult with community organizations to help meet the needs of Vista student and families. Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator or parent.
I am passionate about helping equip students and families for success in school and life with resources and tools to support their personal, academic, social and emotional needs. If you have a concern about your child or are in need of resources for your family please don’t hesitate to contact me! I will do my best to address the situation or point you in the right direction. I have many wonderful connections to resources for families including food, winter jackets, backpacks and school supplies!
Another important aspect of my job is testing. I coordinate most of the district and state testing for the building. If you have any questions regarding MAP, ELPA21, SBAC or highly capable testing, please do not hesitate to call.
Here to help,
